Debbie speaks out against Cindy Sheehan on Rush Limbaugh

The Voice of America (audio clip)

Well, after listening to that, I dont think there is anyone who can disagree with what that woman has said.

She makes some very good points. About how shes dishonoring every son who stepped up to the plate and went to iraq. Bush didnt kill her son. Her son went willingly to die in iraq. And there is nothing more honorable than that. Cindy Sheehan needs to reconsider her own reasoning and logic about the reason of her son dying.

You gotta love the Conservatives for american values blog. Im currently posting as seeking for truth. For those of you who dont know, Consevatives for American Values is all satrical. I like to try to squeeze in there actual true conservative points in there, but they always deflect it with a super ignorant facist attitude.

The problem with this is it scares away people considering christianity, and hardens liberals to thier views.

Not to be insensetive, or anything, because I have listened to that and feel for anyone who shares Debbie's situation. A boy that I grew up with is also now fighting in Iraq, so I am certainly not bashing the troops or their families in anyway. One thing, however, that caught my attention right away, is that she says that on September 12th, 2001, her son enlisted and knew he would be going to Iraq. Hmm. Well, no, actually, he didn't. The REAL, justified "War on Terror," in which her son joined to fight, was taking place in Afghanistan. If Cindy Sheehan was upset that her son died in Afghanistan, that would be a completely different story and I can then see how upset the nation would be. We went to war in IRAQ because of WMDs. Oh, wait, I mean to take Sadaam out of power. Oh, my gosh, what have I been saying? I mean, to spread democracy...

You said in an earlier comment that this post would make up my mind on Cindy Sheehan, but frankly, it hasn't. If Debbie wants to believe that in 2001 the US military knew they would be fighting in Iraq, she is not paying attention to the LIBERAL media. I still have mixed opinions on Cindy Sheehan, but I suppose that now I don't see why George can bike with Lance for publicity but not take time out of his vacation from reality to own up to the real issues facing our country. (oh, and I love Lance, by the way. Nothing against him.)

I'm going to disagree on a couple of points as well.
Every solider does not sign up to die. To say he/she went WILLINGLY to IRAQ is also a misnomer because those enlisted in the military are assigned and directed were to go it's not like they have a choice.

Allison is correct on another point. On September 12, 2001 we (USA) were going after Bin Laden not Saddam. Bin Laden who was directly linked with the attack on the WTC/DC/PA is still on the loose. In my book, I'd rather have Bin Laden (being I lost a good friend in when those towers came crashing down in my *former* beloved city)

The big premise for going into IRAQ was WMD--where are they?

I personally feel that no one can walk in Cindy Sheehan's shoes. No one has the right to tell her how to act, how to feel, and what she should or should not do. Sheehan is only speaking for herself--not every son or daughter or father or mother who is currently in active duty overseas. People accept death in different ways, this is Cindy's outlet--I'm all for her working through her loss in whatever way it will make HER feel better. It is NOT dishonoring anyone.

I can understand her (Sheehan) frustration if the President can take time out to ride around Crawford with Lance... he surely could give her 5 minutes of his time.
(I too have nothing against Lance-I think it's a miracle he's done so well after all he's been through)

Hey BushCheney08. You really should delete the above comment off. It's not really something that should be on your blog.

I saw that the Conservatives for American Values blog was a fake right away. "Rick Santorum, Political Mastermind" just maid up my mind for me. Your right on about them scaring away liberals who might be reconverting their views. As for their twisting of true Christianity, we can let God give them their just reward. But if you want to get a good laugh (sometimes) about how the Libs' view us, then it's a great site.

Glad to see your site meter climbing, slowly but surly. I’ll continue to tell friends and family about your site from out here on the blue east coast.

I don't blame her that she lost her son and Rush Limbaugh is still a despicable miscreant. Has he ever served in the military or that broad Debbie I think not. All of these people who served to the military they didn't die for their god forsaken country they died for their leader George Bush, Dick Cheney and the Illuminati.

Is Chaos good well with any sorts of government ran by a corporation and the illuminati YES Chaos and misery is good. It is also good to create misery because that's what the government is all about. I am not going to pick sides because I don't consider myself to be either. I am here to protect the constitution by bastards like the President.

My Response:
First and foremost, I did NOT blame BUSH anywhere in my post (unless your are twisting my comments on frustration that he couldn't give her 5 minutes to talk about her son NOT the WAR) therefore you are off on another tangent there. Or as I like to say a false premise. This is where you get highly ineffective.
One doesn't sign up for the military because one has a death wish (a least if they are a normal person)... I can't believe you said that it was HIS fault he died. How insensitive and unrealistic could you possibly get.
It was a soldiers choice to die? Like he/she stood up and said "please kill me." How insane is that logic.
Where you are missing the point is
one can make choices in ones own life that will lead one into a direction (I believe in a soldiers case it's to honor this country) but one cannot control how other peoples actions and decisions will ultimately effect their person and well being.
So yes one can control the direction of ones life however if the homicide bomber walks up to one on any street anywhere he/she is going to change ones destiny and its not like one has a choice in the matter.
According to what you are writing if you go and honor our country to defend it, protect it, and preserve liberities, and if they are killed in action its their fault? Please tell me that is not what you REALLY think.
And besides it is war declared by Bush so in essence he is the Commander in Chief (we can't get around that) so he is at fault. This isn't a police action, or an undeclared war.
I think (as in MY opinion) you are truly dishonoring the service men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice in this declared war.

My response:
IT IS NOT A SOLIDERS FAULT! Period.
I think is absolutely shameful that you are saying it's their fault they chose to serve this country and because they got killed, maimed whatever it's their fault.
I apologize to any Veterans on your behalf who might read this or their surviving families. Because it is absolutely unacceptable to even make that statement. I mean are you really going to tell Jessica Lynch she deserved what happened to her? Or how about the Battalion from Ohio they deserved to all die?
So do you also put police officers, fire fighters in this same regards? So they deserved to die 9-11-01?
This is when you sound really young, immature and so far from experiencing anything in life that you just don't get it-you can't control everything.

If you are a Christian how does destiny fit in with the Christian philosophy? (I know Saint probably has an answer for me on this-email away :))

Also is this is the "Right Wing" slant it's abominable!
And before you even try to attack me, I'm not a left wing liberal or a right wing anything--either one is equally slanted one way or the other. So I don't spiel anyone's rhetoric without intellectual forethought.

The sad part is, your generation is being set up to be the next generation that might have to deal with a draft. Because the future looks bleak with IRAQ, AFGHANISTAN, possibly wars with IRAN, SYRIA, NORTH KOREA,--for a strictly volunteer military. I've said before the National Guard can't fight forever (some units are on their 6th(!) tour in IRAQ).
Please when school starts take some time to really read up on history, philosophy and international policy. Maybe you will begin to see there is no perfect political party, there is no perfect newspaper, media etc. And most importantly there is NO perfect President.

But really if you think you can control your destiny? To that I say "Dream On".

"But really if you think you can control your destiny? To that I say "Dream On". "

And I never said you control your own destiny. I said you are responsible for your own destiny. This kid went willingly into the army and died bravely and all Cindy Sheehan can think of it is that bush killed her son. And that is a truly sad and narrow view and to think that its all bush's fault is not only dishonoring her son but every son in iraq. its not about blaming anyone. Its about honoring these kids who have stepped up to the plate and gave their lives for this country.

I know there is no perfect political party, and all that other stuff. If you think that I think that way then you are deeply mistaken.

First off STOP putting words in my comments. I only said that in jest to Saint because we've had theological discussions. That was not a dig at you please. Grow up. You make a big enough fool on your own.

And you seem to keep forgetting that George Bush is the Commander In Chief he is ultimately responsible for this war since he declared it (although I always thought only Congress could do that).
See again you are just playing with words.
You can't be responsible for your own destiny either. Because you could be on say a bus going to say school because you are choosing to go to school and a semi plows into that said bus and is the end of you. Now tell me, how are you going to control or be responsible for that destiny?
Or a homocide bomber picks the crowd you are in anywhere in the world, and you are caught in it. Again how can you possibly be responsible?
This is where your logic is greatly mistaken.
Questioning the war is not dishonoring anyone.
Her feelings about HER son, has NOTHING to do with anyone else's son, daughter, etc. She is not calling them cowards. The ironic thing is all Bush had to do was give her five minutes and say: "your son died honorably I feel your loss" "our troops are doing a tough job and the nation is behind them" (these statements couldn't be argued) .
But really get off of Cindy's back. She lost her son.
This is the same spin the gov't took during the Vietnam war (i.e., the protesters are the "problem" etc.). Keeping this going sidelines the importance and the dangers of the IRAQ war.
It's merely a diversion tactic.
I mean how many years do you see the US sitting in IRAQ?
Our troops are over there - they are sitting ducks. They do not have the proper equipment and armored protection - THAT is what is important about this war- giving our troops the right things for this declared war!

"If you are a Christian how does destiny fit in with the Christian philosophy? (I know Saint probably has an answer for me on this-email away :)) "

This seems to me to be one of the questions that really won't be truly answerable until we leave this world behind. There are so many things about God that we just have no way to truly understand because we aren't God. If we could understand God 100% we would be on the same level, but we aren't, which is why we have to have faith.

I try to reconcile myself to a couple of things that the Bible is clear on (if not easy to understand)

A) God has always been and always will be - there was never a beginning for God. This is entirely impossible for a linear human being to understand. To us everything has to have a beginning and an end. Apparently this is not so for God - after all, he created time, so it would make sense that he exists outside of time himself.

B) God knows everything that is going to happen and everything that happens is within his will, even if it isn't what he would have wanted for us. Another really difficult concept - how is it that God can already KNOW the outcome of everything if he is not willfully CONTROLLING everything? As humans, we'll never know.

C) God has given each of us our own free will - he doesn't control our actions or our thoughts, even though he knows what we are going to do. This relates to the other point - God somehow simultaneously gives us the ability to make our own decisions and choose our own path while already knowing what path we will choose. I honestly don't get it, and I doubt I ever will.

I think that all of these things (and a lot more I am sure) are all a part of our "destiny". In some part we do control our own destiny - we have to decide the path we will walk down and ask God to lead us in the right direction. But someone else (whether God, or somebody else with their own free will - a terrorist or murderer or U.S. President) can always come along and push us in another direction - kill us, maim us, send us to a war.

God does not necessarily CONTROL this, though he already knew it was going to happen and planned for it. We don't necessarily control it either. When I think of destiny I think of a plan that God has - he has put each of us here with an individual purpose and he WANTS to lead us into that purpose even though we usually want to go in another direction. How can we be totally fulfilled as people unless we are doing what God DESIGNED us to do? That, to me, is destiny.

Of course those are only my thoughts - experiences and revelations may vary!

I was asked to participate in this blog since I have encountered a couple of the debate topics. When discussing Cindy Sheehan, many people have jumped to cliches about left-wing politics and right-wing liberals. What some people have quickly glossed over is the fact that we have a grieving mom, who has lost her child. Ask anyone in the mental health profession and they will tell you, a parent losing a child is the worse pain a person can endure. Cindy simply wants answers, she wants closure, she wants her son back. Politics is secondary to the true nature of her expedition.

As for a person joining the military, yes, we know death is a possibility. As a disabled vet I know that all to well. But it is as any other career, you hope for the best. Do you think of death every time you get in the car? Fatal accidents happen on our highways all the time, yet we never think, "I am going to get in my car today and be killed."

Right after 9-11, men and women readily signed up to join the military. Our sovereign security had been shattered. These men and women had their own sense of patriotic ideals, moral values and high spirits that propelled them to fight on foreign soils. Just because many of us view this war with negativity, does not give us the right to invalidate their beliefs. I volunteer at Veteran Affairs and I have seen veteran's whose emotions and beliefs are just as palpable today as after 9-11. And as for myself, I know I do not have the right to degrade, negate or invalidate their position.

A popular email was going round several months ago that states, "Freedom is never free." So for a flip of the coin, think about this. What might the possibilities be, if we did nothing after 9-11?

At the time I write this, Katrina has blown Cindy Sheehan out of the picture. Poor Cindy... all the reporters left her cold to go and cover a bigger story. Her husband is divorcing her, her living son was begging her to come home, and she was being used by the media to further their cause. Most mothers of soldiers who have died for a cause they believed in do not agree with Cindy. She's history now. She had her brief moment of glory and media attention and it's over.
